HISTORY:

The Towne Crier Steakhouse was built in 1965 and opened for business on February 18, 1966. The highest priced steak dinner was priced at $1.39. Neil Fry, Jack McGlothlan and Phil Phillips were co-owners of the business when it opened and Neil Fry became the sole owner in 1969. The current owner, Dwight Aston, started on April 1, 1977.

Some major events have happened since that time. In January of 1985, a fire, which started in the vent hood over the fryers, caused major damage to the front cooking lines, the main dining room, the office, the bathrooms and the front face of the building. After 3 months, the Towne Crier was reopened for business. In 1988, Dwight Aston decided to close on Sundays to give honor to God and in 1990, the Towne Crier began serving breakfast.

Many changes have occurred over the years, but the Towne Crier remains consistent in quality food and service.
